Welcome Back, VOloggers
Well, hello again. Welcome back to the vlog. I wanted to chat today about coaching. I'm going to be offering coaching for voiceover. So I thought I'd kind of dive in and explain some of the method of what it's going to be like.
The Voice Actor's Solo Journey
So I am excited to kind of take a slightly different approach to coaching that will ideally get my students to really understand what it takes to show up every day as a voice actor. Being a voice actor, you have to do stuff on your own all the time. It's different from most all really other acting jobs. You're not called to set. You're not expected to show up for rehearsal. You're not, you know, I mean, nowadays with auditions, it is, a lot of it is self-tapes and a lot of it is done from home. But with voice acting, it really, truly, truly is just you and no one is going to remind you or keep you honest. So that's kind of what I am hoping to be for some people. Voice acting is such an incredible, life-changing opportunity and it was for me and I'm hoping to share that with my students.
What My Coaching Offers
I've been working with people for a couple years now, off and on, and I'm excited to offer kind of a more concrete package that will help folks see what it takes in the day-to-day of being a voice actor. So one of the things that I'm excited to offer my students is really in-depth feedback on their work that they're doing on their own. So I'm going to be asking for samples and demos and auditions, and you'll be sending me the files and I'll be giving you feedback, really in-depth feedback on your performance, your mic placement, the quality of your studio and the equipment that you have down to, you know, just the proximity of your mic. Because those things make a really big difference. And sometimes when we're off on our own, we don't realize how we could improve those things. So that's what I'm going to be there for. Not only will I be giving adjustments on your samples and demos and auditions, I will also hold one-on-one coaching sessions that we will actually even dive deeper into your performances and how you can take direction in the moment because voiceover is very much both.
Live Sessions and Feedback
You have to be able to, in sessions with clients, take that feedback from your director or even the engineer sometimes. So we have to be ready to take direction and be flexible and be on our toes and have the breadth of knowledge of our own instrument to be able to really make adjustments in the moment during a session. So I really love to do kind of like mock live sessions with my students. And I'm excited to offer both that aspect of it coupled with the feedback from your files. So it's a little bit more unique in that it's not going to be just one-on-one coaching, you know, for an hour whenever you schedule me. It's also going to be offline feedback on your spots. So I'm really excited to begin offering that.
Career Growth and Goals
I can also talk about career strategy and, you know, anything that I can offer you that I have learned in my years of successful voice acting. And I'm really excited to work with some new people and help people reach their goals. Again, this voice acting career has completely changed my life, and I really believe that it can change anyone's life if they really put in the work. And I'm here to help hold your hand along the way, get you going, or if you're already going, get you amped up to go a little bit further, a little bit faster maybe. Anyways, I'm really excited about it. Thanks for listening, and I hope to see you on my calendar sometime. Wink, wink. Okie dokie. Catch you on the next one.
